Beating Vegas Week 5 — HP Byron Nelson Championship

Week 5 is here and this means the halfway point of our 10 week journey into golf betting. A decent field means that anyone can win. Not really since some people in the field don’t have odds, but you know what I mean.

Jack “too good for a nickname” S’s Picks

If there’s one thing we know about tournaments in Texas, it’s that sometimes, people who live in Texas win in Texas. With that in mind, my fleet of pro’s this week all reside in Texas, at least according to some list I found that had every tour player’s residence in 2012. I’m confident that my semi-scientific method will produce a winner. Also of note, apparently Texas is an Asian haven of sorts. Who knew?

YE Yang (250/1) – $10

KJ Choi (125/1) –  $10

Danny Lee (120/1) –  $10

Rory Sabbatini (65/1) –  $10

Chris Stroud (200/1) –  $10

Jimmy Walker (17/1) –  $10

Chad Campbell (230/1) –  $10

Jordan Spieth (10/1) –  $10

Martin Flores (95/1) –  $10

Ryan Palmer (35/1) –  $10

Mike “slowest eater on the planet” M’s Picks

Welp, I’m on vacation so this is going to be real short and sweet. All of the people I am picking have a chance to win (in my opinion). This chance to win is better than the odds next to the players name, or at least high enough that I would feel stupid not taking them (also, in my opinion). So, without further preamble, my wagers are $10 on each of the following players.
Jordan Spieth: 10/1
Matt Kuchar: 12/1
Keegan Bradley: 20/1
Charl Schwartzel: 23/1
Ryan Moore: 30/1
Ryan Palmer: 35/1
Brandt Snedeker: 35:1
Pat Perez: 50/1
Paul Casey: 60/1
Andrew Svoboda: 95/1

Grant “thinks Angel Cabrara is steamy” F’s Picks

After my big victory in the first week this seemed like it was going to be cake. However, the golf gods have turned against me and I have been on a solid losing streak since the first week’s glory. I have tried to recover by straying from tradition but, alas, this route brought no success. As such, I will once again go chasing waterfalls.

The Favorites (everyone):

Jordan Spieth (10/1): $16

Matt Kuchar (12/1): $15

Jimmy Walker (17/1): $14

Keegan Bradley (20/1): $13

Martin Kaymer (18/1): $12

Ryan Moore (30/1): $11

Sang Moon Bae (65/1): $10

Gary Woodland (30/1): $9
